Questions & Answers
Q. Question? This may seem a silly question but a family member has a caravan which they are staying in over the easter holidays. They have an extra bit, like a tent or awning (sp) attached to the side of it which they have a patio heater inside to keep it warm.

I tried to explain to them y'day that you cant use them indoors due to the gases being given off from the patio heater which is run off a gas bottle. They didnt believe me, maybe Im wrong!

Most people who were sitting in the side part of the caravan were either tired, or had a sore head. I tried to explain that is was probably due to the gas patio heater being on indoors, but no one believed me!

They are staying there in the caravan until tuesday with that bloody heater! Which, after a while, not only made me tired but also gave me a sore throat.

Im I right by saying this is dangerous or am I being silly by thinking that?

Im home now anyway so Im not stuck with that heater anymore but i'd like to let them know if its safe.

A. Best Answer: One of the gasses given of is Carbon Monoxide (CO). This is absorbed by your lungs in preference to Oxygen, so it will kill quite quickly. Symptoms include headaches and tiredness. Once you are unconscious you are likely to die. This is what happened to those 2 little children on holiday in Greece a couple of years ago.

You can get CO detectors for use on holiday quite cheaply. You could get one to either set you mind at rest or prove to them that its dangerous.

Q. Question? We are thinking of installing a patio awning.

But I cannot get a ball park figure from any of the blind companies I've tried. They go on about how there are many different types of material and winders etc.

But I wanted to know what the cheapest price for a 6'+ awning with a, I guess, 6'+ span and then a mid price. I'm guessing it's also about the hard home sell so they won't give a guide price.

Has anyone in the UK got an awning???

A. Best Answer: I purchased such an awning last summer from eBay, size 2 m x 2.5m, about the size you are after. It was easy to install, price 99 quid.
try eBay they have loads to choose from.
It is of good quality and I have no complaints whatsoever.
